It is unquestionable that the Montante Family Library has a lot to offer, from academic texts to research materials to a quick-and-easy place to print. For more on the overall excellence that can be found at the Montante Family Library, I implore you to take a look at Candice’s Four Floors of Awesomeness – The Montante Family Library. To that point, I want to offer you an insight to some parts of the library you may have never known were there; the parts that are an excellent escape from the world of academia for a moment; the parts that you should frequent when you have the spare time.
1.) The DVD collection
Most people probably know that the Montante has a fairly decent collection of DVDs for rental, so much so that it has afforded itself an entire section of shelving. The new layout makes for a much easier perusal than gently and slowly paging through sheets of DVD sleeves. If you’re unsure of what to rent, here are a few recommendations:
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
3. The Return of the King- Special Extended Edition
2.) The Young Adult Section
One of the best things about the Montante that very few people know about is its large section of Young Adult fiction. Hidden in the back corner of the 4th floor, behind the Curriculum Room, many overlook the gems buried there. From Harry Potter to The Hunger Games to Twilight to Percy Jackson, chances are if you’re looking for a great Young Adult read, it’s there. Recommendations:
1. Looking for Alaska—John Green
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower—Stephen Chbosky
4. Thirteen Reasons Why—Jay Asher
3.) The Comic Books
Another section that usually passes by unnoticed is the Comic Book section on the right side of the 3rd floor. It’s not very large, but it’s still an excellent collection. Plus it’s the perfect place to sit and page through a few issues while you’re taking a break. Recommendations:
2. JLA
3. Watchmen

The Montante Family Library is a great place to research, a great place to study, a great place to travel into the world of books. Check it out, and I think you’ll find that you have to agree.

I had no idea that the library had that good of DVDs for rental! Thanks for the tip. My favorite part of the library is the group study rooms with the marker boards… they become very useful come finals week!
Thanks Joey,
Nice article! Take a look at our library catalog for your favorite titles and then select the “similar titles” tab to find more great books or dvds. See included link to “Thirteen Reasons Why”.
